What they are saying…

The “Inside Out” e-course is like a hot bath, a glorious sunrise and a delicious meal, all rolled into one. It gave me strategies to help me relax, see goodness, make the most of my energy and appreciate others. Best of all, Shannon helped me do this from the inside out, so that changes are personal, considered and full of hope. That this type of activity and support is offered online, world wide, is testament to Shannon’s vision and compassion, not to mention her masterful organization and support.  The Inupiat Eskimos have a word for hello that translates: continue to be – because the way you are is good. That’s how this class made me feel.  Kim, White Mountain, Alaska

I participated in the inaugural “Inside Out” e-course in January, 2010. I was still in the midst of undiagnosed, untreated postpartum depression (which I’ve really only fully understood from the other side).  ”Inside Out” helped me see that I am capable of anything that I put my heart and soul into. The “realness” of everything Shannon teaches and shares, along with her ability to bring that out in others, helped me really see that extraordinary people are just people. They don’t have some special gift. They have a whole host of gifts, just like everyone does. What sets them apart is the action they take, putting themselves out into the world, taking risks, and moving forward. This idea is a value I hold very close to my heart.  Kelly, Ohio – Perched to Fly

I am learning that everything I do is based in love.  And committing to creation, whether by myself or with my kids and friends, is the most effective way to create love in my life.  I’ve finally, for the first time EVER, found a way around procrastination and guilt – and I am full.  I can’t thank you enough for this experience!

Shannon’s class came into my life at the right time. As a busy mama of two, I was struggling with finding time for myself and was feeling burned out. Through taking “Inside Out,” I found time for myself everyday to create, meditate and explore my feelings. This class is much more than an art journaling class. If you are willing to take risks and dig deep into your soul, then this class is a must!  I learned so much about my dreams, my fears and myself.  I feel motivated to dream big and to make those dreams come true as a result of this course. Shannon is such an inspiration and she has a way at making you look at your life differently and positively.   past participant

I took this course because it sounded interesting, was in the right price range, and I felt I needed to give my life a quick emotional kick-start. Although I am an artist, photographer and art therapist, I learnt a lot about myself and incidentally my art practice from this amazing e-course. I think I made some friends for life from all over the world, who will always be there for advice, support and most important of all – fun!  Lynda, UK

I took “Inside Out” as a way to get myself to commit to a daily practice of creative play, pondering what I want to focus on and to have some fun!  I hoped to explore my personal creative process, have an opportunity to experiment without the pressure and loosen up. Shannon’s combination of great questions to think deeply about, relaxing yoga for stillness and focus, creative art play – was a great mix for body and soul. Her class way surpassed my expectations.  Dayle, Fort Bragg, California – Dayle Doroshow Zingaro

I loved “Inside Out” and it has done so much for me in so many ways.  Even though I am up in years, it is never too late to change and learn! Taking the course changed my life and really let a lot of the artist side of me come to the surface. I just loved the ideas Shannon gave us to follow and think about. So much of it was about letting ourselves go, which is a very meaningful and an eye opening experience. I am now experiencing the joy of putting my thoughts on paper and really expressing how I feel about aging and life in general at this time in my life. I would definitely recommend this e-course to anyone who wants to know what makes them tick, and to reveal some of their thoughts, feelings and expressions on paper while discovering more about their true selves.  Iris, 75 years young

I am learning that to live life I have to participate, but that I don’t need arbitrary rules. This course has been a fabulous opportunity for me to practice just that: to take it as it comes, to resist the perfectionist tendencies that leave me stuck in the mud, and to explore my creativity without self-editing.  past participant

Taking this class with a raw and open heart has equipped me with the tools to live my life in a wildly powerful way.  Lily, Michigan

I love this class for the creativity and easy direction. Shannon is a great inspiration and awesome teacher!  Holly, Missouri

I am thankful to all of the wonderful people I have met online, my inspiration and my guide.

Thank you, Shannon. My journey started at the “Inside Out” e-course. Daniela, Italy

Over the last few weeks I have let a lot of emotions out that I have been keeping inside for some time and it feels liberating. I have learned that I choose my thoughts and that I can change the negative into the positive. As a result of this course, I became brave and told my husband my dreams and wishes. I knew he would be supportive, but I had to let go of my own self-doubt first and believe that I could make them a reality before sharing them with anyone. Now that I have said them out loud, they’ve become more than just thoughts, but tangible goals. Another thing I have learned from “Inside Out” is that it’s OK to let go of the guilt. This is hard to do, but every time I feel like I’m not living up to the person I think I should be, I step back and repeat, “I am enough.”  The positive affirmations have been so healing for me. past participant

You are such an inspiration and positive person in my life.  When I’ve noticed that people say how happy I am, it’s usually when I’ve been reading and doing your “stuff.”  Having been inspired by you I appreciate colors, smells, personalities, textures, cooking – just real life experiences that fill our days.  Thanks for that.  Janice

Best of luck with this new session.  You are really talented and I am so thankful to my friend for introducing me to your work and your class.  It opened up a whole new world of creative expression to me, as well as helped me get through a difficult time (and still is).  Sara, Kentucky

I was stopping by your blog this morning to grab a link and imagine my surprise to see me being thanked today!  Your words brought tears to my eyes and I am so happy to be part of your world!  You are such an inspiration to me and I am thrilled that our paths crossed!  Thanks for all you do and for being you!

I just wanted to let you know that I am really loving the course, despite how quiet I have been and have really felt an opening up in that I am allowing myself to

just create without thinking about it or worrying about it, which has been really fun, exciting and liberating.  It is also great to see my feelings laid bare on a page and to just express those feelings with an art medium – sometimes literally throwing paint at the page or finger painting (which I haven’t done since I was a child) and really connecting in with those feelings through art.  My journal is very, very messy which is polar opposite of who I am as a person, but I feel so satisfied when I look at it.  So…thank you…

Shannon, I cannot tell you what a pleasure and special day it was to meet you face to face.  I feel honored that you would open your home and share your family with mine.  We had a wonderful time and hope to repeat it again one day.  I’m tickled pink by your encouragement. Lynnette, Colorado –  Tenacious Lace

I had a fabulous time in “Inside Out” and it gave me the courage to start taking small steps.  I began with some e-courses to explore my creativity and to find out what I enjoyed. I have now started dancing classes and am having great fun.  I have also found an art course to participate in locally.  Yay!  Living in the moment and exploring my inner child is fun!  Without “Inside Out” I would not have started this journey and I love it.  Thank you so much.  Victoria, Finland

You are bloody brilliant!  I love the way you encourage me to look at the world in such a different way.  Thank you for being you!  Barbara

Thanks, Shannon.  ”Inside Out” was the journey I needed to embrace this motherhood adventure just the way I imagined it.  And being a mother truly is the best! I remember you almost every day.  Silvia, Portugal –  Locus see e estar

I have gone through periods of doubting my own intuition, not listening to my voice, not believing I am a creative person or that I can create my own life and live it happily not worrying about other’s opinions. Since taking “Inside Out” I am learning to trust my own voice more. I am finding my self, my community and my own special creative life. I worry less about what others think of me and am learning to just be me and make that me the best I can be. I have learned that I can be creative and artistic, even if my art and my creations aren’t realistic or perfect. I am learning to let go more and be more free and find the balance of what works for me and my family. I am learning to be more in the moment and to be more creative with my daughter as well, which is a nicer way to mother!  Taking “Inside Out” has led me back to who I was before I was taught to be like others, to buy into what others thought I should live like, look like, create like…  Now I am free of that.  Now I listen to my own voice and trust it. Karen, Washington

I just read your blog post on the computer cleanse and loved it.  Thank you for your wonderful heartfelt and wise insights and sharing. I really love the focus and clarity you gain and the vibrancy, love and enthusiasm you bring to life and share with others. It really comes through so much, Shannon. Lots of love to you and your family and sending full gratitude to you for being such a shining star. Katie, Australia

I just finished a two-part series on poetry at our local library, AND I’m getting ready to teach my first creative journaling class for women here in town.  My journaling class is focused on writing and building a better foundation for personal health and well-being, but I really feel like “Inside Out” is what sparked all of this for me nearly two years ago.  I have a few individual clients, and that’s been OK, but the group sessions are so much fun.  I think that’s where I’m being led right now.  (In addition to completing my first novel!)  So, this is just a note to say “thank you.”  Your work is having a ripple effect. Stacey – Running Monologues

You know what?  When I think of you, I feel peaceful.  I am amazed how you handle life in such a peaceful and trusting way!  You are so very inspiring.  I’m trying hard to stay in that peaceful and trusting place in order to see my life unfold in a way that reflects my inner-self.  Not that easy though.  But on the other hand, life is so beautiful.  I guess I need to produce more yummy stuff for me in order to fill in my creative well and nurture my soul.  I am glad I have friends like you that I can rely on to keep me on that wonderful and fulfilling path of creativity in a peaceful way!  Manon, Canada

I’m grateful for your openminded spirit and for your first e-course in January 2010 that I participated in.  You gave such a friendly welcome to every single one of us, also to me far away up in the north of this planet.  And that impressed me a lot.  I want you to know that what you do affects others a lot.  Your kindness and care about other people is spread through others in this world.  Through my work I meet a lot of people, not only your fellow-countrymen, but also from other countries. I have found out that through these meetings I learn something new every day if I am openminded.  Thank you for everything.  Marit, Sweden

What an absolutely beautiful experience this class has been to me . . . it truly opened me wide up!  Shannon, you are a beautiful spirit and the way you presented your heartfelt lessons to us each and every day was perfect!  I know I will miss being here in this space, but have a journal full of wonderful ideas, moments, quotes, dreams and so much more to refer back to over and over again. ~Donna Wynn, Virginia Beach, Gentle Threads

The “Inside Out” e-course was an incredible, joyful, fun-filled experience where I got to make art like a child again. No rules, no outcome, just creating and seeing what happens. I have learned so much about myself, learned to enjoy creating in ways I never thought possible, and feel that I have loosened up creatively!  Jennifer, UK
