We tend to become attached to our thoughts and we forget that we are not those thoughts.
When you learn to think a new thought you can dream a new dream. You can see your life in a whole new way.
You can practice becoming an observer of your thoughts and notice what triggers your negative habitual thought patterns so you can change them, and start to see new perspectives, with a kind and open mind.
