The Power of Being You

I know it’s a busy time of year. I hope you are finding ways to rest in the middle of all the busy.

In fact, that’s why I’m writing to you today.

If you listened to my last podcast episode, you’ll know that my heart is pointing me in the direction of unplugging. I’m needing a social media detox if you will. A break from my phone so I can feel less distracted and more connected.

Do you ever feel that way?

So this week I’m taking Instagram and Facebook off my phone. I just need a break! I’m longing to spend a quiet holiday with my family and to allow my mind, heart and soul some downtime.

One common theme I’ve noticed lately in conversation and in coaching sessions is that we all seem to be going through some major shifts. Change, upheaval, letting go of attitudes, distructive behaviors and toxic relationships, death, transitions, clutter, taking a risk…the list goes on.

Experiencing challenge is part of life afterall. But what I’m seeing is this deep desire to learn from the past and a commitment to letting go of what’s keeping us stuck, so we can make space for new beginnings and big transformation.

We are all ready.

Ready for change.
Ready to let go.
Even though it feels really scary.

Wherever you are on your journey, my hope is that you can step out of your own way.

Because to step out of your own way is to stop doing it the same way.
It’s to stop thinking the same old repetitive and limiting thoughts.
It’s to stop gripping to the way things have always been, so you can be more open to a new way of being.

It’s time.

And if you’re in that distracted, confused and “too busy” space, that’s ok. Know that you have permission to slow down. You don’t have to do it like you’ve always done it. You can reset, rest and unplug, too.

Clarity comes when we do less.
Courage comes when we step towards the unknown.
Peace comes in solitude.

Have you seen Frozen 2 yet? In her newest song, Into the Unknown, Elsa sings:

“I’ve had my adventure, I don’t need something new. I’m afraid of what I’m risking if I follow you…into the unknown. What do you want? ‘Cause you’ve been keeping me awake. Are you here to distract me so I make a big mistake? Or are you someone out there who’s a little bit like me? Who knows deep down I’m not where I’m meant to be? Every day’s a little harder as I feel your power grow. Don’t you know there’s part of me that longs to go…into the unknown?”

This is how I feel!

I know my inner voice is speaking and when I don’t listen to it, it speaks louder. I can’t deny it. There is a great pull inside me to take a break, to let things go, to do it differently and to walk (or run) into the unknown.

I’m ready.
I have no expectations.
Not sure what this even means.

But it’s time to retreat.
To rest.
To reconnect.
To be still.
To laugh.
To not think.
To let go.
To stay open.
To love.

So here I go…into the unknown.
